Programs

Since 1997, IOY has implemented several successful programs to invest in:
YOUTH | FAMILIES | COMMUNITIES

Youth Mentoring Services – Our programs provide advice and guidance from positive role models and promote development. We provide education and training for youth and young adults in preparation for adulthood and community investment. IOY’s mentorship programs run several cycles per year, developing youth and supportive parents.

The Girls Elite program currently provides mentoring and other activities for girls. This female development project encourages girls to take risks and master physical, intellectual and emotional challenges. Learn more on our Girls Elite page. Family Empowerment Services – We provide parent education sessions on topics like cyber safety practices for youth. The program includes speaking engagements to schools, churches and other community organizations. [Photo: IOY parent meeting to discuss volunteer opportunities for both youth and community members].

Rapid Rehousing Program – We also serve families who need assistance with housing or rehousing (as funds are available). This program works to help families have an adequate place to live and to decrease chronic homelessness. We draw upon the strengths of human service organizations, local government, businesses and faith communities, and most importantly, the families themselves. Call to learn more.

Community Outreach and Empowerment – Initiatives address cultural awareness, civic engagement, family stability, domestic violence, drug and alcohol awareness, economic awareness, conflict reconciliation, physical fitness, intellectual awareness, aesthetic art, and entrepreneurship.

Public and Community Service – We provide opportunities for youth to carry out their court ordered sanctions, engage in service learning, and explore volunteer opportunities. We also link academic work with practical experience by helping students develop a balanced approach to their own education. [Photo: The Fire Dept. discusses fire safety and careers. Other Health & Safety days covered cyber-bullying, social media, being home alone, etc.]

OTHER INITIATIVES

Community events feature presenters, singers, dance groups, and more. Watch our videos to learn more.

4. Take a look at one of our math PSAs inspired by our students on our Gallery page.

5. Changing a Generation Health and Wellness Program – This program was designed to promote healthy life styles. After completing the sessions the youth had the opportunity to form clubs with the assistance of facilitators that to help re-enforce their learned skills.
